A Brief Analysis of Production and Sales of Commercial Vehicles (Bus Parts) in China in October

In October 2007, the passenger car industry in China experienced a month-over-month decline in both production and sales, yet still showed positive growth when compared to the same period in the previous year. According to data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, total production for the month reached 26,400 units, while sales totaled 26,500 units. This marked a drop of 24.35% in production and 23.90% in sales from September. However, on a year-on-year basis, both figures saw significant increases—16.73% for production and 24.01% for sales. Looking at different categories of passenger cars, all major segments saw a decline compared to the previous month. Large passenger vehicles, for instance, saw production fall to 4,153 units and sales to 3,759 units, representing a 28.01% and 26.57% decrease respectively. Despite this, they still managed to grow by 18.08% and 18.62% year-on-year. Medium-sized passenger cars were hit harder, with production dropping to 4,889 units and sales reaching 4,629 units—a sharp decline of 36.82% and 36.39% from the prior month. While production fell by 2.86% compared to the same month last year, sales remained relatively stable. Lightweight passenger cars, however, performed better in terms of monthly performance. Production was recorded at 17,368 units, and sales reached 18,112 units, showing a 18.85% and 19.24% drop from the previous month. Still, these figures represented strong year-on-year gains of 23.40% and 33.46% respectively. Overall, while October brought a temporary slowdown in the passenger car market, the long-term trend remained positive, driven largely by the performance of lightweight models. The sector continued to show resilience and steady expansion despite short-term fluctuations.
