Low-power precision positioning IoT chips come out

    Recently, at the 16th China Wireless Technology and Applications Conference, Broadcom released three IoT chips. One is the latest Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) chip BCM47748 for the IoT and wearable devices; the other two are new connectivity chips for the automotive electronics market.

    The BCM47748 is a high-end chip that supports fitness wristbands, smartwatches and other devices that require precise positioning with minimal power consumption. In some cases, the BCM47748 eliminates the need for separate microcontrollers and allows OEMs to significantly Reduce shipping costs.

    In addition, the on-chip context engine and adaptive firmware make it so powerful that it automatically adapts to user activities and situations such as cycling, walking and running, achieving low power consumption at every activity or any other situation. In some cases, positioning can be done with just 5mA of current drain. The chip in the calculation of position, speed and time to a large number of signal processing removed from the microcontroller, thereby reducing system power consumption. Also comes with a self-powered embedded processor that helps extend wearable device battery life and enhance the user experience.
