Singapore's Spare Parts Business Enters China's $21 Million Towards Shanghai
Singapore's auto parts manufacturers are showing growing confidence in the Chinese market and are actively expanding their presence there. Recently, Aettek Engineering Co., Ltd., a well-known Singapore-based company, signed a partnership agreement with China's Nanhui Industrial Park. As a result, they plan to establish "Ante Metal Forming (Shanghai) Co., Ltd." within the park. This marks the first time a Singaporean firm has set up such a large-scale automotive parts production facility in China.
Under the terms of the agreement, Ante Engineering will invest $21 million over the next five years and construct a 45,000-square-meter factory complex in Nanhui. Once fully operational in 2005, the plant will begin producing and assembling key automotive components, including door locks, window mechanisms, drive shafts, transmission gears, universal joints, and specialized fasteners. These products will be distributed to both the Chinese and international markets.
This move reflects a broader trend among Singaporean companies seeking to tap into the booming Chinese auto industry. With rising demand for quality automotive parts and increasing foreign investment in China’s manufacturing sector, more firms are looking to establish a foothold in the region. Aettek's decision highlights the strategic importance of China as a production and export hub, and signals a promising future for Singaporean businesses in the global automotive supply chain.
