Characteristics and decomposition methods of fluorocarbon antimony-monistite mixed rare earth concentrate

    The fluorocarbon antimony -neonite mixed rare earth concentrate is a kind of composite rare earth mineral unique to China, and the mineral has the following characteristics:

    1. The mass ratio of fluorocarbon antimony ore and monazite in the concentrate fluctuates between 9:1 and 6:4;

    Second, the concentrate containing iron minerals (Fe 2 O 3, Fe 3 O 4), fluorite (CaF 2), barite (BaSO 4), apatite (Ca 5 F (PO 4) 3) and other minerals ;

    3. The elements of the strontium group account for about 98% of the total amount of rare earth elements;

    Fourth, the radioactive element Th content is about 0.2%, lower than rare earth minerals such as monazite.

    The rare earth grades of hybrid rare earth concentrates currently available for industrial use are generally between 50% and 60%. Listed in Table 1 are the chemical compositions of commonly used mixed rare earth concentrates.

    The mixed rare earth minerals are difficult to be decomposed by acid at room temperature because they contain a rare earth phosphate mineral (monazed stone) which is very stable at a high temperature. The method used is currently limited to two types of sulfuric acid roasting and sodium hydroxide solution decomposition. However, since these two methods have certain problems in terms of environmental protection and production costs, the development of economical and environmentally friendly new technologies has always been a concern.
