· Toyota calls for a unified global autonomous driving standard

At the Tokyo Motor Show, Seigo Kuzumaki, general manager of Toyota's senior R&D and engineering executives, stressed that some countries have already led other countries in autonomous driving regulations, and unified management can shorten technology development time.
He said that "the United States, Japan and Germany have made great progress in the promotion of driverless cars. We also want to integrate these management methods with global standards as much as possible. If this goal is to be achieved, it is up to the authorities to do this. At the same time, he also emphasized the benefits of coordinating management standards and the need to share and protect the data needed for autonomous vehicles. He suggested that the development of high-precision shared maps can also shorten development time.
However, he also acknowledges that global automakers are currently developing driverless cars based on different collision criteria, and that the automotive industry and the legislature do not have globally harmonized standards.
