Domestic ethylene equipment realizes full-process advanced control for the first time

    Yanshan Petrochemical ethylene plant process control project passed the headquarters acceptance. This project is the first project in China to apply advanced foreign control technologies to increase the smooth production rate of ethylene plants, increase the capacity of equipment and ethylene production, and increase market competitiveness. The success of this project marks the first time that the domestic ethylene plant has achieved full process advanced process control, and laid the foundation for Sinopec to carry out the promotion and application of advanced process control technology for ethylene plants and accumulated experience.
    It is understood that the implementation of advanced process control in production facilities is an important measure for less investment and faster efficiency in the application of enterprise information. The practice of many years of mature technology and software products in foreign countries has proven that advanced process control can create tremendous economic benefits for enterprises.
    Since 2002, Sinopec Corp. has decided to promote the application of information technology on a large scale and improve the efficiency of enterprises in response to the status quo of information technology applications in oil refining and chemical companies. The ethylene production device has the characteristics of long process flow, large processing capacity, and high energy consumption of the device. It is an ideal object for applying advanced process control technology, and it is more difficult to implement advanced control.
    In September 2002, Yanshan Petrochemical and ASPEN signed a technical service agreement for the development of an advanced process control system for ethylene plants. The project was used as a key project of the company and was highly valued by the headquarters. The project was launched in December 2002 and uses ASPEN's technology.
    The successful implementation of this project has reduced the labor intensity of the operator, reduced human error and upstream and downstream mutual interference in the production process; it can achieve device card edge operation and improve product output. Under the condition of maximizing output, the production of ethylene and propylene can increase by 2%, and the economic benefits are significant. After the implementation, the intelligent distribution of the cracking furnace load was also realized, and the operating cycle of the cracking furnace was prolonged while improving the processing capacity of the device.
