Because this type of instrument is closely related to people's lives, in order to prevent it from happening, Health Canada advises consumers to immediately stop using the recalled digital clamp meter or multimeter. As a compensation to this group of users, the Ministry of Health also announced that consumers can contact Extech Instruments for free replacement of other clamps or multimeters.

According to reports, the product models of the recalled digital clamp meter are EX612, EX613, EX622 and EX623; the product models of universal meter are EX540, EX542 and EX570. The digital clamp meter or universal meter was sold in a hardware tool store in Canada from February 2008 to November 2010.
