Germany has developed a more accurate band between the laser measuring wine driving method

    Breathing test drive? Not so troublesome. The University of Würzburg, Germany, recently released a press communiqué that its researchers recently developed a method that uses laser to measure wine drunk efficiently and instantly detect the alcohol molecules in the car. If someone in the car reaches a tenth of a hectogram of blood alcohol, the measurement system will call the police.

    According to reports, the measurement system using band-in-line laser technology, and airports and large-scale activities used in non-contact detection of explosives similar principle. People set up a special laser device at the roadside to illuminate passing vehicles. The light will be reflected by the mirrors located across the road. At this point, the laser detects the presence of alcohol inside the vehicle based on the spectral distribution of the reflected light, most likely the drunk driver exhales.

    The accuracy of this laser measuring system is higher than that of a similar system previously developed. If someone in the car reaches a tenth of a hectogram of blood alcohol, the measurement system will call the police. However, the drawback of this device is that it is not possible to identify whether the driver inside the car or the passenger is drinking alcohol. The researchers said the police could use the laser measurement system as a primary screening test for drunk driving and stop the suspicious vehicle for further testing.

    Researchers are working with industry and look forward to more application of this technology. In the petrochemical industry, for example, this laser-based detection technique can be used to detect the gas composition of a crude oil distillation.
