Measure 1. Lightning protection for direct-type optical fiber cable: 1 In-office grounding method, the metal parts of the optical cable should be connected at the joints, so that the reinforced core, moisture-proof layer and armor layer of the hop cable can be connected. 2 In accordance with the provisions of YDJ14-91, the moisture-proof layer, armor layer and reinforcement core at the joints of optical cables shall be electrically disconnected and not grounded, and the ground shall be insulated so as to avoid the accumulation of induced lightning currents in the optical cable. It is avoided that the lightning current is introduced into the cable from the grounding device due to the difference in impedance of the lightning discharge line and the metal component of the cable to the ground.
Measure 2: For aerial cables: Aerial overhead cables should be electrically connected and grounded every 2km. When grounded, they can be grounded directly or through suitable surge protection devices. This hanging wire has the protective effect of the overhead ground wire.
Measure 3: After the optical cable enters the terminal box, the terminal box should be grounded. After the lightning current enters the metal layer of the optical cable, the terminal box ground can promptly release the lightning current and play a protective role. The direct-buried cable has armored layer and reinforced core, and the outer sheath is PE (polyethylene) sheath, which can effectively prevent corrosion and prevent rat bite.
