Michelin, which has always been known for passenger tires, has recently made a big move on the aircraft tire project.
At the end of last month, Michelin announced the establishment of "MSAT Michelin (Shanghai) Aircraft Tire Trading Co., Ltd.", which means that in addition to passenger car tires, Michelin aircraft tires achieved a single flight in the Chinese market.
Michelin's aircraft tires are used in a wide range of applications in Boeing, Airbus and some general aviation aircraft.
It is understood that Michelin currently provides a full range of tire products in the Chinese aviation market, including China Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Hainan Airlines, Sichuan Airlines, Shenzhen Airlines and Xiamen Airlines.
In addition, Michelin has recently become a designated tire supplier for China Commercial Aircraft Co., Ltd., providing special tires for its twin-body narrow-body civil transport C919.
Earlier, Michelin aircraft tires have not been independent in China and belong to Michelin Asia Pacific. But with the development of China's aviation industry, Michelin decided to integrate the business more systematically.
Michel Morrow, president of Michelin Aircraft Tire, said that the establishment of a new company means that Michelin has taken a crucial step in the Chinese market. The airline itself is expanding and Michelin will continue to provide a more matched product portfolio and solutions. The new company can more effectively introduce tire products into China, thereby expanding Michelin's business.
China Aviation Industry Corporation (AVIC) said that China is expected to add more than 4,500 passenger aircraft over the next 20 years. By 2030, its global aircraft share will also increase from the current 9% to 15%. Michelin is full of confidence in the future Chinese aviation market.
