Michelin Tire announced that it will open a new plant in North America to produce TWEEL inflatable tires for commercial vehicles. The new plant is located in Pitmont, South Carolina, USA, and specializes in manufacturing pneumatic tires.
It is understood that the tire 's original ideas from the United States Michelin R & D engineers, initially as a concept tire unveiled at the 2004 Paris Motor Show.
Michelin said that unlike conventional tires, TWEEL tires do not have to be inflated, which solves the problem of inevitably causing damage to roads, construction sites, farmland, and recycling of damaged tires.

According to reports, the new plant will not only help increase the production of Michelin's TWEEL sliding-steer tires, but will also begin manufacturing new TWEEL tires for use as the original tires of the John Deere ZTRAKTM 900 Series zero-turn commercial mowers.
Ralph Dimena, Technical Director of Michelin TWEEL, said: “The TWEEL inflatable airless tire is the industry’s first commercial inflatable air-free radial tire. The birth of this tire will help Michelin to open up new markets and help expand existing business units. Applications in low-speed application industries."
It is understood that the new factory, which covers an area of ​​135,000 square feet, is Michelin's 10th plant in South Carolina and the 16th plant in the United States with an investment of 50 million U.S. dollars.
