·Nankai team develops intelligent system to map motor vehicle “contamination map” in real time

    Recently, Professor Mao Hongjun of the Research Center for Urban Traffic Pollution Prevention and Control of Nankai University has developed a set of intelligent systems that can completely “track” the motor vehicle emissions on each road and map out the “map” of motor vehicle pollution in real time. The system can provide a detailed motor vehicle “emission list” for the urban air quality model and the haze forecast and warning system. It can also be used for government restrictions, limit numbers, yellow label vehicle elimination, road inspection road inspection, low-row area restriction, etc. Regulatory policies provide performance assessments and recommendations for improvement.
    The reporter saw in the lab that two large servers are rapidly calculating massive traffic data from Beijing. According to scientific research personnel, through the docking with the data port of Beijing traffic control department and environmental protection department, more than 20,000 roads in Beijing are divided into more than 60,000 road sections. Information such as traffic flow, speed and fleet composition on the road can be obtained in real time. At the same time, the system has also established a set of vehicle emission data models including various vehicle types, vehicle speed, oil type, and emission standards.
    "The two types of data can be matched and calculated to get real-time emissions of vehicles on the road." Dr. Jing Boyu, a member of the research team, said.
    After about 2 minutes of operation, the system "painted" a map of Beijing that was divided into grid structures, each covering an area of ​​1 square kilometer. The degree of pollution in the area is indicated by different shades of color. The calculation results are updated every hour, and the historical data is stored in real time and plotted as a graph for the government to formulate policies and adjust the control measures to provide a scientific basis.
    “This system can simulate the emissions of nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, hydrocarbons and PM2.5 in real-time conditions of every car on the road. It can also measure the real-time fuel consumption of the vehicles. Most importantly, these The results can also be visually 'drawn' in different forms such as roads, grids and regions." Jing Boyu said.
    “This system has achieved accurate estimation of motor vehicle emissions from countries and cities on a regional scale, and has realized the analysis, assessment and prediction of past, present and future pollution conditions on a time scale, achieving multi-scale and high Time-space resolution of mobile source assessment and decision-making, which is also at the leading level in the world,” said Professor Mao Hongjun, head of the research team.
    It is understood that the system has provided technical support for the environmental protection system of the Nanjing Youth Olympic Games. Under the policy of no heavy pollution, the air quality is monitored and predicted in real time, which provides the scientific decision-making basis for the organizing committee. At present, Beijing, Langfang, Baoding, Tangshan, London and other cities are also carrying out systematic demonstration applications. Recently, the Tianjin Municipal Government has reached a cooperation with the laboratory through government procurement. In the future, the system will help the construction of “Beautiful Tianjin”.
