Tianjin Ethylene Accelerates Project Construction

    Since 2008, Tianjin has further accelerated the construction of 1 million tons/year of ethylene and supporting projects. On January 5th, Tianjin Petrochemical started the construction of a 10 million-ton/year ethylene and auxiliary equipment project with a refining capacity of 10 million tons/year of atmospheric and vacuum distillation units. On January 8, the 450,000-ton/year polypropylene plant and the 300,000-ton/year linear low-density polyethylene plant were also started construction.
    The 10 million-ton/year atmospheric and vacuum distillation unit adopts a number of advanced technologies. Compared with similar domestic devices, the energy-saving effect is obvious. Products are further refined, and product quality will be significantly improved. According to the overall schedule for the construction of the project, the device will be completed in March 2009.
    The 450,000-ton/year polypropylene plant adopts the newly developed polypropylene technology in the world. It is currently one of the largest single-line capacity production facilities in the world and is also the largest polypropylene production facility in China. The 300,000-ton/year linear low-density polyethylene plant is the first set of world-scale polyethylene plants built with the development of Sinopec's own technology, using a number of proprietary technologies and proprietary technologies.
    At the same time, the project's basic design work has been fully carried out. After the headquarters of the ethylene project's overall design proposal was approved by the headquarters, Tianjin Petrochemical strengthened its cooperation with relevant departments and design units of the headquarters according to the headquarters deployment and node goals, and went all out to promote the project design process. Tianjin Petrochemical made major adjustments to its organization and personnel. While strengthening the leadership of supply of materials, the design strength was enriched. The number of design department personnel increased from 18 to 89, laying a good foundation for accelerating the project design progress.
    At present, the basic design of the 19 new-build and retrofit installations of the refinery project has all been reviewed and approved by the headquarters. Among the 8 sets of new installations for ethylene engineering, 7 sets of devices have already been reviewed for basic design and approved by the headquarters. The thermal power project and the railway expansion and reconstruction project have completed the basic design review and have been approved by the headquarters.
