The construction of Hami's 10 million-kilowatt wind power base was incorporated into the national plan. According to the plan, by 2015, wind power planning in Hami will reach 5.3 million kilowatts, and by the year 2020 it will reach 10.8 million kilowatts.
    In addition to wind energy resources, the coal and solar energy resources in the Hami region also ranks first in Xinjiang. Among them, the predicted coal resources amounted to 570.8 billion tons, which accounted for 31.7% of Xinjiang's total forecasted coal resources. At present, more than 30 large-scale enterprise groups such as China Poly, China Power Investment, SDIC, China Coal Energy, and Chongqing Energy have invested in the development of coal resources in Hami. The nine major coal mining areas throughout the region have successively launched large-scale exploration and mine construction. The exploration area is about 17,570 square kilometers, accounting for about 45% of the total area of ​​the Hami coalfield. The total construction scale and the total scale of production mines will reach 74.5 million tons/year by the end of the year. With the construction of Lanxin's second double line, large-scale coal shipments will start soon.
    Chen Zhijiang said that before 2015, Hami’s coal production capacity could reach 200-300 million tons, and by 2020 it would reach 400 million tons. At present, Hami has started coal power and integrated power planning. It plans to have 10.61 million kilowatts of thermal power installed in 2015 and 22 million kilowatts by 2020.
    Chen Zhijiang said that the solar photovoltaic power generation plan has been completed and it is expected that by 2015, the installed photovoltaic power generation capacity will reach 1 million kilowatts, and by 2020 it will reach 3.6 million kilowatts.
    Based on the construction of national energy industry bases, the Hami region has proposed that the average annual growth rate of GDP in the next five years will be over 18%, of which the increase value of secondary production will increase by more than 30% annually, making Hami a new regional growth pole in Xinjiang.
