U.S. EPA seeks advice on emergency use of a new pesticide

    The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) received a special exemption request from the agricultural sector in Montana, hoping to urgently ban the use of Bacillus sp. J for the prevention and control of 2,675 acres of potato virus Y (PVY)-infected potato crops. This pesticide has not yet been registered with the EPA. The EPA is now open for consultation until June 11, 2012.
