Description

 

HOPSON offers a variety of radial-ply repair patches to meet the diverse needs of today’s passenger, truck, and OTR tire applications. Our radial repair patches are thick and rubber-reinforced, allowing placement in any direction. A special compounding and design ensure flexibility and heat resistance, guaranteeing a long-lasting repair.

INSTRUCTIONS

• Inspect the tire for repairability using the tire manufacturer's guidelines or HOPSON LAB standards. If repairable, mark the injury with a crayon and carefully remove the object causing damage.
• Probe the injury to determine its size and direction, removing all debris.
• Select the appropriate repair patch based on the injury and tire type. Apply prebuff cleaner to the repair area and use a rubber scraper to remove dirt and mold lubricants. Using a carbide cutter, drill the injury channel three times from the inside and three times from the outside, ensuring that all damaged and rusted cables are removed and only good rubber remains.
• Cement the injury channel with Chemical Vulcanizing Cement and install the appropriate vulcanizing insert. Trim it flush with the tire inner liner. Mechanically buff the outlined repair area to a velvet-like texture. Remove buffing dust with a clean brush or vacuum. Apply Chemical Vulcanizing Cement to the buffed area, working it into the rubber and allow it to dry thoroughly.
• Remove the backing and center the repair patch over the injury, then stitch it down from the center outwards to eliminate trapped air.
• Finish the repair by applying Inner Liner Sealer around the edge of the repair patch and over the buffed area.
