China's power generation equipment evaporative cooling technology project passed the acceptance

    "Eleventh Five-Year" national science and technology support plan "power generation equipment evaporative cooling technology" project, on May 11 in Yichang, Hubei Three Gorges Dam adopted by the High-tech Division of the Ministry of Science and Technology acceptance. Participating experts believe that the project completed the development of two 800 MW evaporative cooling hydro-generating units, and put into commercial operation in the underground power station of the Three Gorges Project, reaching and completing the assessment targets of the mission statement.

    Evaporative cooling technology is the use of high insulation properties, low boiling point cooling medium through the phase change heat transfer to transfer heat, in order to achieve the cooling of the heat components. It is a cost-effective new cooling technology that covers multidisciplinary interdisciplinary fields of electromagnetics, engineering thermophysics, hydrodynamics and electrochemistry. It was proposed and implemented by our scientists and is the result of more than 50 years of sustained efforts by several generations of scientists, including Academician Gu Guobiao, Institute of Electrical Engineering , Chinese Academy of Sciences.

    In the right bank of the Three Gorges Dam on the 27th and 28th underground power station is the use of evaporative cooling technology of large power generation equipment, which is "Eleventh Five-Year" national science and technology support program "power plant evaporative cooling technology" two "800 MW Level evaporative cooling hydro-generating unit optimization design and prototype development "based on the project.

    The acceptance committee consisted of 11 technical experts and two financial experts from China Hydropower Engineering Consulting Group Corporation, Yangtze River Survey and Planning Design and Research Institute, State Administration of Yangtze River Three Gorges Project Quality Inspection Team, Tsinghua University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology and other units .
