Japan's fastener exports in the first half of 2011

In the first half of 2011 (January-June), due to the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, the export of fasteners in Japan showed an overall downward trend. Most of the fastener export products decreased compared with the same period of last year. Only a small increase.

In the first half of 2011, the total export volume of fasteners in Japan was 150,791 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 3.50%; the total export volume was 119.57 billion yen, which was a decrease of 4.19% year-on-year.

In the first half of the year, Japan’s largest exporter and exporter of fasteners remained the other steel bolts, which were 86,334 tons and 51.72 billion yen, but decreased by 4.60% and 4.66% respectively compared with the same period of last year.

The largest increases in export volume were screw and stainless steel nuts, which increased by 13.08% and 12.83% respectively. The largest increase in export value was light hooks, which increased by 49.35% over the same period of last year. The biggest drop in exports and exports was self-tapping screws, which dropped by 13.65% and 19.00% respectively.
