After 10 years of research, the researchers have improved the large number of gas separation membranes that can capture water vapor through breakthroughs in membrane technology, making it possible to recover a large amount of water from the flue gas emitted from the plant.
Tests conducted in factories in the Netherlands and Germany have confirmed that new technologies can recover at least 40% of the water in the flue gas. Based on this calculation, the annual water saving of a 400 MW power station is equivalent to the annual water consumption of some 3,500 households in Western countries.
The researchers said that the water quality recovered using the above technology is higher, not only as industrial water, but also as consumption water.
