1. Product Introduction.
The EDJ series is a packaged fire pump system, typically used in automatic fire water supply systems. It includes a main pump (driven by an electric motor), a standby pump (driven by a diesel engine), and a jockey pump. This model comes with a separate controller or one that is mounted on the skid. The package also includes discharge valves, a common header, and other necessary accessories.
2. Working Principle
In general, the pipeline network's pressure fluctuates between low pressure P1 and high pressure P2. When the pressure drops below P1, the pressure maintenance pump starts automatically and continues running until the pressure rises to P2. Due to leakage in the pipeline, the pressure gradually decreases back to P1, prompting the pump to start again. This cycle ensures the pressure remains within the range of P1 and P2. If the pressure falls further to the minimum P3 due to increased water demand, the electric pump will activate and raise the pressure to Pw, meeting the fire water requirements. In case of power failure or electric pump malfunction, the pressure will drop to P4, triggering the diesel pump to start and restore the pressure to Pw. After the system stabilizes, the pump should be manually stopped unless it's in automatic mode.

The diesel engine is mounted on a base with anti-vibration rubber pads, and the pump is directly coupled to the diesel engine via a flexible coupling. Depending on the engine's power output, the electrical system can include engines from brands like Cummins, Deutz, Perkins, or domestic Chinese brands such as Shangchai and Yuchai. The system includes components like an alternator, starter motor, fuel system, lubrication system, and exhaust system.
4. Electric Motor Pump and Jockey Pump
The electric pump is a horizontal split-case centrifugal pump, and we can also offer end-suction pumps or horizontal multi-stage pumps based on client specifications. The motor is a squirrel cage industrial type, foot-mounted, and suitable for three-phase power with the required horsepower rating. The jockey pump specifications are selected according to the diesel engine and electric motor pump specifications.
5. Controller Information
The standard controller is made from mild steel and coated with red epoxy powder. It is rated IP54 and complies with applicable standards like NFPA. Manual operation is possible by setting the black 2# three-way switch on the control panel to "Manual," allowing the use of the manual start and stop buttons. If the switch is set to "Stop," the diesel pump cannot operate. For automatic operation, the switch must be set to "Auto," allowing the controller to receive fire alarm signals and start or stop the diesel pump accordingly. Pressure controllers on the common outlet pipe manage the pressure levels, using two 1" 1.5 square signal lines connected to terminal No. 111 and 127. A low-pressure threshold starts the pump, while a high-pressure threshold stops it. If the electric pump is overloaded, the diesel pump will automatically start.
