Rising costs of traditional energy sources, increasing consumption, and growing pollution have long been a source of concern for people. This is why consumers have adopted CNG even after using petrol and diesel, despite not experiencing the convenience and efficiency they had expected from these energy sources. However, as time has passed, advancements in technology have led to a shift towards solar energy. People are now using solar energy not only for transportation but also for powering their homes. The government has initiated various projects to increase awareness about solar energy. With technological progress, the automotive sector in India has also embraced solar energy, and electric vehicle charging stations are being established across the country. The expansion of these eco-friendly charging stations will not only provide convenience to users but also create numerous employment opportunities. This growth is paving the way for a brighter future.
When it comes to solar energy projects, the government has simplified the process of utilizing solar power and setting up charging stations with the aim of enhancing public convenience. With increased environmental awareness and an optimistic outlook for the future, there is a growing emphasis on electric mobility. Plans are underway to make eco-friendly charging stations available at major roads, parking lots, malls, petrol pumps, and other locations. In terms of establishing charging stations, the Indian government has issued certain guidelines under which anyone can set up a charging station for public use. These guidelines also stipulate that charging points should be installed in rural areas, and it has been emphasized that there should be public charging stations every 25 kilometers on highways in both directions. Additionally, all companies involved in this initiative will be responsible for maintaining these charging stations for a period of three years. It is estimated that the cost of one charging station will be around 400,000 rupees, and there will be a separate plan for power supply. The government will also provide a subsidy of 10.5 billion rupees for the installation of these charging stations, which will be installed in collaboration with NTPC and Power Grid Corporation.
The benefits of electric vehicles are becoming increasingly apparent. One of the main reasons for the growing interest in electric vehicles is their environmental safety and cost-effectiveness. Some of the key advantages of electric vehicles include:
- Electric vehicles are more economical than those running on petrol or diesel. Charging an electric vehicle costs significantly less than fueling a conventional car, with electricity costing approximately one-third less per kilometer.
- Electric vehicles require less maintenance and servicing, and their parts such as batteries, motors, and radiators are relatively inexpensive.
- Electric vehicles produce no harmful emissions, ensuring environmental protection.
- Charging stations for electric vehicles can run on solar energy, reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
- Electric vehicles can be charged using solar panels instead of relying solely on grid electricity.
- Electric vehicles are lighter than those powered by petrol or CNG, offering better mileage.
