2-Alarm fire in Dekalb, 9-16-17

On Saturday night, I responded to a fire in DeKalb. The incident took place at 201 N 6th Street. It was a two-story commercial building with a deli and bakery on the first floor where the fire originated. There was a heavy amount of smoke, but the fire department did an excellent job of quickly entering the scene and bringing the fire under control. The call was upgraded to a second alarm, but only the box alarm companies were dispatchedâ€”no additional units were called in.

It looked like a serious situation, but the crews handled it efficiently. I took some photos from the scene, and Iâ€™ve included them below for reference.
