It's been more than a year since the global outbreak of COVID-19, and with it came a sudden shift that disrupted our daily lives—both personally and professionally. At Autodesk, we've remained focused, navigated through constant change, and shown resilience as employees, customers, and communities adapted to an entirely new way of living and working.
Looking back on this period, I'm truly proud of how Autodesk has supported our people, partners, and customers throughout these challenges. We’ve embraced digital transformation, offered flexible solutions to our clients, enabled remote learning, and made a meaningful difference where it was needed most. We also introduced workspaces designed with safety in mind, helping our team stay healthy, secure, and motivated as we move forward.
We understand that the pandemic is not yet over for many around the world, and our thoughts are with those still struggling. At the same time, we’re encouraged by the progress in vaccination efforts and the hope they bring for a healthier future. As society continues to recover, it’s clear that the post-pandemic world will look different, and it’s up to all of us to shape what that future will be—including the future of work.
That’s why we developed Autodesk’s Flexible Workplace model—a new approach that reflects our commitment to flexibility, collaboration, and well-being. The goal is to empower our people to thrive, no matter where they are, while supporting our business and customers in achieving better results.
Under the Flexible Workplace model, employees will fall into one of three categories:
- **Office-Based** employees will primarily work from an Autodesk office, with the option to work remotely up to 20% of the time. This group includes roles that require regular in-office presence, such as receptionists or security staff.
- **Hybrid** employees will split their time between home and local Autodesk offices. Most of our global team will fall into this category, with access to shared workspaces when needed.
- **Home-Based** employees generally live too far from any Autodesk location and will work primarily from home.
We’ll roll out the program globally, one office at a time, taking into account local guidelines, health metrics, and vaccination rates. Many offices in Asia Pacific have already reopened, and others in the U.S. and around the world will follow this summer. Each re-opening will be done gradually and carefully, ensuring a safe and smooth transition.
Beyond the details, our promise remains clear: to create an inclusive, flexible, and supportive environment for everyone. We want to build on our culture, foster collaboration—both virtual and in-person—and continue putting the health and well-being of our global community first.
The pandemic has taught us the power of adaptability and teamwork. While we can’t predict what lies ahead, we believe this people-centered approach will help everyone find balance, grow, and continue to deliver what’s next for our customers.
