    1991 to 1997 Land Cruiser (80 Series)

The 80 Series Land Cruiser made its debut in 1991, replacing the 60 Series. Known for its full-time four-wheel-drive system and lockable rear differential, the 80 Series proved its ruggedness by participating in the 1996 Dakar Rally, where two Land Cruisers took first and second place in the unmodified class. Over its production run, it received numerous upgrades, such as a more powerful 24-valve, 4.5-liter 1FZ-FE inline-six engine, anti-lock brakes, and an electric-locking front differential.

During this time, the 80 Series was also sold as the Lexus LX 450, featuring slightly different trim and badges. Despite these cosmetic differences, it remained essentially the same vehicle underneath. Here are the paint codes for the 80 Series:

    1998 To 2007 Land Cruiser (100 Series)

In 1998, Toyota introduced the 100 Series Land Cruiser, marking two significant milestones. It became the first Land Cruiser to feature a V8 engine, fulfilling a long-standing demand from the U.S. market, and it was also the first model to come equipped with an independent suspension. These innovations made the Lexus LX 470 stand out even more, as it was now clearly distinct from the standard Land Cruiser. The V8 engine boosted power from 190 horsepower to 232 and later to 271 horsepower, enhancing the vehicle’s on-road performance while maintaining its off-road prowess. 2008 To 2021 Land Cruiser (200 Series)

Toyota launched a heavily redesigned 200 Series Land Cruiser in 2008. One major change was shifting to a shared platform with the Toyota Tundra and Sequoia, but with structural reinforcements making it 20% stronger. It also introduced a new engine, the 5.7-liter 3UR-FE, delivering 381 horsepower. Like its predecessors, the 200 Series shared components with the Lexus LX 570, though the two vehicles differed significantly in terms of interior and exterior design. Unfortunately, Toyota halted imports of the Land Cruiser after the 200 Series concluded its run due to poor sales compared to the Sequoia and LX 570, which outsold it nearly two-to-one. Nevertheless, rumors persist about the possibility of a new Land Cruiser returning to the U.S. market. Here are the paint codes for the 200 Series:

How To Locate Your Paint Code

Your Land Cruiser’s paint code can be found on an identification plate located inside the driver’s door. This plate contains essential details about your vehicle, including the build date, configuration, options, and paint code. Each factory color corresponds to a unique code that identifies the exact paint formula required for matching purposes. While the paint codes for Land Cruisers and Lexus LX models may overlap, the color names often differ depending on the brand. Therefore, using the correct paint code is crucial when purchasing touch-up paint or planning a full repaint. Matching paint visually can be tricky due to variations caused by lighting conditions, so relying on the precise paint code ensures accuracy.
