Tree crushes car in Wilmette 11-23-12 (part 2)

Tim Olk sent over a series of photos taken at the scene along with an updated report indicating that there were six people inside the vehicle involved in the incident. The images show the aftermath of a massive tree falling onto a car, trapping those inside on what appears to be a quiet suburban street. The first image, titled "Wilmette_Pin_In_16th_&_Wilmette_001," captures the full extent of the damage. The tree has completely crushed the roof of the car, leaving little visible space between the branches and the vehicle's frame. The second photo, "Wilmette_Pin_In_16th_&_Wilmette_011," provides a closer look at the tangled mess of roots and branches pressing against the car. In this shot, you can see the effort being made by emergency responders as they work to extricate the trapped individuals. Moving on to the third image, "Wilmette_Pin_In_16th_&_Wilmette_020," we get a broader view of the surrounding area, showing how the tree seems to have fallen unexpectedly. The fourth photo, "Wilmette_Pin_In_16th_&_Wilmette_029," zooms in further on one side of the car, revealing more details about the rescue operation underway. The fifth picture, "Wilmette_Pin_In_16th_&_Wilmette_034," offers a different angle, capturing the intense focus of the firefighters as they assess the situation. The sixth photograph, "Wilmette_Pin_In_16th_&_Wilmette_072," shows another perspective of the rescue efforts, highlighting the teamwork required to safely remove the victims. As I write this, it’s unclear whether all six occupants managed to escape unscathed or if there are any injuries. Tim Olk's photos paint a vivid picture of the chaos following such an unexpected event. These images serve as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by large trees during storms or when their structural integrity weakens over time. It's crucial for homeowners to regularly inspect and maintain trees near their properties to prevent similar accidents in the future. I’ll continue to update this story as more information becomes available regarding the status of the victims and any updates from local authorities.
