I just got some updates from Dennis McGuire, Jr. regarding the Box Alarm that went out in Blue Island, Illinois on January 15, 2016, at the RNA Products location on 13750 S Chatham St. He mentioned that there are more pictures available, and you can check them out on his site. There are some great shots here. The first one shows firefighters setting up a ventilation fan—pretty cool to see how they manage these situations. Another image captures Engine 2133 as it arrives on the scene, being the first-in unit. There’s also a picture of the Evergreen Park Snorkel Squad 3 getting everything ready, though it looks like they didn’t end up needing to use it.
Other images include a shot of Calumet Park firefighters Mike Lonkar and Marty Rita, looking focused and ready to tackle whatever comes their way. You’ll also find a photo of the first-in engine crew regrouping, which gives a sense of teamwork and preparation. There’s even a dramatic view of the front of the fire building with thick smoke billowing out.
Moving on to some other perspectives, Tim Olk shared a few more shots. There’s also a fantastic panoramic shot of the fire scene, and another one focusing on the fire chief at the scene, capturing his leadership in action.
Finally, Tim’s photos of the Evergreen Park Snorkel Squad 3 give us a detailed look at their setup process, showcasing the precision and coordination required in firefighting operations. These images really help paint the full picture of what went down that day, and it’s impressive to see the level of effort and dedication put into keeping the community safe.
