At the Chicago Auto Show in February, Toyota introduced its long-awaited 2014 Tundra pickup truck, marking the first major redesign since 2007. The new model brings a fresh look and improved features that aim to compete more effectively in the competitive full-size truck market.
The redesigned Tundra features a more aggressive exterior with a wider and taller grille, giving it a bolder front-end appearance. The bumper design has also been updated, featuring a three-piece structure that could make repairs more cost-effective when sourcing parts from an authorized Toyota dealer. Additionally, the truck now includes an integrated spoiler, a rugged new bed, and a tailgate with a similar three-piece design for easier replacement.
Inside the cabin, the layout has been refined for better ergonomics, making controls more accessible. The seats have been redesigned for enhanced ventilation, and the CrewMax version now offers foldable rear seats, increasing cargo flexibility. Under the hood, the 2014 Tundra comes with two engine options: a 4.0-liter V6 producing 270 horsepower and 278 lb.-ft. of torque, or a 4.6-liter V8 delivering 310 horsepower and 327 lb.-ft. of torque.
One standout feature is the inclusion of a blind spot monitoring system and rear cross-traffic alert—features not previously available in this segment. These safety enhancements are expected to appeal to a wide range of buyers.
Toyota announced that the 2014 Tundra would be available at dealerships starting in September 2013, giving consumers time to prepare for the new model’s arrival.
