The Newport Township Fire Protection District, located in Wadsworth within Lake County and part of MABAS Division 4, is now featured on the site. This fire department serves a large area that stretches all the way to the Wisconsin border. They operate out of two stations and are equipped with a variety of apparatus, including three fire engines, a pumper squad, an elliptical tanker, two ambulances, a brush unit, a tracked ATV, and two classic 1980s R-Model Mack trucks used as TRT support units.
One of their unique pieces of equipment is this Kubota ATV, which is seen here in action. It's a versatile tool for navigating rough terrain and responding to emergencies in hard-to-reach areas. The photo was taken by Larry Shapiro.
Another notable vehicle in their fleet is this crane truck, which is used for heavy lifting and rescue operations. It’s a vital asset when dealing with complex incidents that require specialized equipment.
Station 1 is conveniently located at 39010 Caroline in Wadsworth, just off Wadsworth Road near the local post office. The station is fully stocked with vehicles and equipment, making it a well-equipped base for emergency response. Another photo from Larry Shapiro captures the scene inside the station.
The department also has a distinctive decal that identifies its vehicles, adding to its recognizable presence in the community.
